Dear members of Copenhagen Beachvolley,
Here is some information about the winter season, the decision-making process, and what the near future looks like.
Airdome:
Currently, we have all the approvals needed to obtain a permit to put the Airdome into operation; we just need the bureaucracy to catch up. We are in daily communication with stakeholders.
Therefore, we are not changing our group assignments but are proceeding with our Airdome plan for the winter.
We are waiting for the municipality’s approval, and Hafnia expects the Airdome to be ready by November 1 at the latest. We share your frustration regarding the uncertainty and disruptions that have arisen from this situation.
Start of the Winter Season
The plan for the start of the winter season is October 1 for the elite team and October 12 for the recreational and youth teams, due to ongoing planning with the recreational coaches and the fact that the Airdome permit has not yet been finalized (see above).
Since we won’t have the Airdome available at the start of the season, we will train according to the following schedule in the weeks leading up to its availability (see the schedule link at the bottom of the page):
Broad Winter Plan:
Here is the plan:
We will continue to have four men’s and women’s teams, with practice sessions from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.—men’s teams on Mondays and women’s teams on Wednesdays. The men’s and women’s teams are scheduled on the same day to make it easier to move players up and down the roster and to fill open spots if there is an uneven number of sign-ups. There is also one day of rest between each pair of practice sessions.
There haven’t been enough sign-ups for us to fill our 9:30 p.m. and later practice slots with first-time sessions for everyone. We would have liked to be able to guarantee at least one first session for everyone; unfortunately, we would end up in a situation where we couldn’t fill our court times, and our ability to offer a second session would be significantly compromised due to large differences in skill level among the groups.
We have therefore decided to prioritize offering the first and second training sessions to members during 4 of the 9:30 PM+ time slots. We will also create 2 mixed-level teams during the remaining 9:30 PM+ time slots for those who did not get a spot between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM; these teams will be filled according to priority guidelines for those who have expressed interest. This ensures the best possible use of our court times, as well as that (almost) everyone who has requested a training time—regardless of the time slot—is offered a spot on a team at an appropriate skill level.
In the event that there are open spots in the 5:00 PM–9:30 PM time slots, those spots will be assigned based on existing priorities at the time of registration, regardless of whether players have been assigned a spot on a 9:30 PM+ team or are on the waiting list, so you are not at a disadvantage by accepting the 9:30 PM or later practice time.
Morning practice from 6:30 to 8:00 will be offered if a coach can be found.
Work is underway to develop a concept for improved registration, allocation, and transparency going forward.
Youth, Ages 19–25
Members who have expressed interest in playing on the 19–25 youth team or in recreational teams will be assigned to the 19–25 group as their second practice if they were also prioritized for a recreational practice; otherwise, it will be assigned as their first practice.
The price for the 19-25 training session is the same as for the recreational session: 650 if it's your only session, 1,300 if it's your second session.
