CPH Beach Winter Schedule 2026–2027

Dear Members of CPH Beach

Together with Hafnia Hallen, we’re hoping to have an airdome ready for the coming winter. That’s why the master plan is based on this concept. The plan was developed by the board with the help of staff. Please contactbe@cphbeach.dkwith any questions.

Apply via the following links: Recreational:LINK. Youth:LINK, Elite:LINK
The season runs from early October 2026 to late April 2027.

  • The Airdome should be operational as of October 1, but the launch is expected to be delayed by up to one month. We will announce training groups and schedules as soon as possible once we have confirmation that we have the Airdome.

  • If we do not receive confirmation by October 1, we will adjust our schedule and announce the teams based on the time slots we have been assigned for the indoor courts.
    • The season may start later due to restructuring of training groups, coaches, and SportyFriends.

    • Without the Airdome, there will be fewer group fitness classes offered.

    • Indoor courts may be made available for booking during the period leading up to the resumption of training.

    • In the event that the start of training is postponed, the prices for training packages will be adjusted.

The time slots for youth, recreational, and elite programs have been scheduled to comply with the required guidelines (from the municipality and Hanifa Hallen) and to maximize our use of court time. Keep in mind that because we have a broad membership base, we are also allocated more recreational slots. If we did not apply for youth slots, we would risk receiving fewer recreational slots due to the high level of competition. Our recreational slots carry more weight than those of other clubs because we have a youth program. (See below for the rationale behind the late training times.)

    • For youth, training is offered for U8, U12, U15, U19, and a new team for ages 19–25.

    • For the Elite/Talent program, there are 3 training sessions, one of which takes place on the weekend, with at least 1 rest day between sessions.

    • We have prioritized setting up four recreational training groups (Men’s/Women’s A–D) during the training hours of 5:00 PM–9:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, which are allocated in accordance with our priority guidelines posted on the website (LINK).

    • Other general training sessions at 9:30 p.m. and later are flexible and depend on interest at the time of registration; see below.

    • There must be available booking slots for members who pay dues.

    • Weekend times should be kept free of practice sessions as much as possible due to the possibility of canceled practice sessions.

    • Morning practice will be offered if there is interest and a coach can be found.

The application form will ask for the following information:

    • Are you interested in two training sessions, with the second session taking place from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.?

    • If you are interested in a single training slot at 9:30 p.m. or later, in case you are not offered a training slot between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (You will not be assigned a 9:30 p.m. slot simply because you choose to accept this offer.)

We need this information to best assess how we can maximize the use of our training slots and satisfy as many members as possible. If enough members want a single training session after 9:30 p.m., this will be prioritized over offering two sessions, so that as many members as possible can participate in training during the winter. If we can only fill some of the time slots, the board will look into how best to offer/fill the remaining slots, and whether it might be a combination of the solutions mentioned above.

Figure 1: Expected time allocation; changes may still occur.

    • Priorities will follow the same rules as in the summer of 2026 (LINK), except that equal priority during the first 4 hours will be eliminated, and instead, spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • This is because, historically, we have run into capacity issues before the 4-hour mark, and we are therefore unable to uphold the rule.

    • We understand that this winter’s capacity limitations are causing frustration for many of our members, and unfortunately, allocating members to training groups is not an easy process. The Sports Committee and the Board are working together to do their best to meet members’ wishes and needs. We are well aware that a “first-come, first-served” approach is not the most optimal solution, but we are unable to find a better method at this time. We have considered random selection, but do not wish to pursue this strategy, as it is difficult to document the legitimacy of a random process. The Board is focused on increasing transparency and therefore will not adopt a strategy that hinders this. We hope there will be enough training packages available, and that our new flexible approach will accommodate as many members as possible.

    • If you have any suggestions for future changes to our priorities, please contactbe@cphbeach.dk.

We know that working out from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. isn't the most appealing option, and we fully understand that many people would prefer to work out earlier in the evening.

In recent years, the framework for allocating municipal court times has changed significantly. Previously, we were one of the few clubs that applied for winter court times for beach volleyball, which gave us a better opportunity to offer attractive practice times to a large number of our members.

That situation has changed. More clubs are now applying for the same hall times, which means that competition has become significantly fiercer. At the same time, the municipality has placed greater emphasis on prioritizing children and youth first, followed by elite athletes, and finally recreational sports.

At the same time, there has been increased administrative and political attention on the allocation of municipal sports hall time slots. This has led to a heightened focus on ensuring that the allocation principles are applied consistently across all clubs and that the allocated time slots are actually used. As a result, the scope for local and flexible solutions has become significantly more limited than before.

To ensure that our club gets as many practice hours as possible, we have prioritized youth and elite teams in our application for the 3:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m. time slots. This is the best strategy to ensure that, overall, we get as many court times as possible. If we don’t do this, there’s a high risk that other clubs will get those slots instead, and we’ll end up with fewer training opportunities.

As a result, the recreational teams' practices are held late in the evening during the winter season.

It’s also important to know that the municipality monitors whether the assigned court times are being used. If we don’t make use of the late-night slots, it could affect the next allocation, where we risk losing even more court times. That’s why it’s crucial for the entire club that we fill all the assigned times—including the late-night ones.

The goal is not to have late practice times. The goal is to ensure that we, as a club, have as many practice hours as possible—both this year and in future seasons. This requires that we work together to make use of even the less desirable time slots. The better we utilize the court times we’re allocated, the stronger our position will be when training times are next allocated.

We therefore hope for your understanding and support. The late practice times are not an ideal situation, but a necessary part of ensuring good training opportunities for children, youth, elite athletes, and recreational athletes—both now and in the future.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping to keep our association strong.
